What We Believe

Bible

The Church of the Transfiguration is an Anglican church committed to embodying the “faith which was once delivered unto the saints” (Jude 3) that has been handed down to the church through the centuries. We are a living community of faithful people who desire to “worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness” (Psalm 96:9) and proclaim the faith of the undivided church.

As an apostolic and historic church we believe the Bible, rightly interpreted by the consensus of the Church under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, serves as the foundation for our beliefs. We believe that the bible is the Word of God and is given for both our instruction in doctrine and in holy living.

The dogmatic teaching of the scriptures—our essential beliefs—are distilled for us in the great creeds of the church; namely, the Apostles Creed and the Nicene Creed. These definitive statements of the church’s faith, along with the Bible, serve as the foundation for our beliefs as they center upon God’s self-revelation as a Holy Trinity of Persons—the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

We are evangelical in our witness, catholic in our faith, apostolic in our order, and orthodox in our worship. We warmly invite you to join us for worship.

“We hold that faith which has been believed everywhere, always, by all.”

— St. Vincent of Lerins
